Hello, lover

7 Oct

Alexander Wang

Holy moly…you’re fuckin’ up my bank account, dude.

WTF is this shit?

21 Sep

I don’t usually post twice in a day, but I just couldn’t not blog about this…& since I am leaving for New Orleans around midnight & will be gone for nearly two weeks (don’t expect too many [if any] updates), so I figured I might as well.

I’m not sure if I love this or hate it. In one way, it’s the stupidest belt I’ve ever seen in my life…but on the other hand, it’s also pretty badass. Now, granted, if you’re going to pull off this dumb accessory, you need to be a size -00…so I doubt you’ll be seeing too many people aside from fashion’s favorite coke head, Kate Moss, wearing this thing.

I don’t know much about the skeleton belt, except that it was created by Delfina Delettrez & runs around $2500 (pocket change). I don’t think I’ll be saving my money for this anytime soon, but I am guessing if I really wanted to, I could probably find something similar this time of year at Spirit Halloween.

…it’s like the more I look at it, the dumber it gets.

Holy cow, don’t even get me started.

Everything about this collection/show is gorgeous. Sui has really been impressing me lately.

Toes & Feet

19 Aug

I still can’t get on board with the whole socks & high heel thing, however, I’m all for mary janes & socks. It has a lot to do with the fact that mary janes & ruffle socks were a staple in my wardrobe from the time I was 3 up until…well, now. & besides, how cute is this picture? It made me want to put on my red buckle shoes right away. I just can’t decide which pair of red buckle shoes to wear, as I have 4 different kinds. Oh my, dilemmas.

Squid Drama

8 Jul

This has nothing to do with fashion or anything of the sort, but it was just too good to pass up. & since we’re nearing the end of the World Cup, it’s the only reasonable time I could post this & have it make some sort of sense.

– – – – – –

In what has been a World Cup full of off-the-pitch intrigue, Paul the psychic octopus has emerged as the real star of the event. With Spain’s 1-0 victory over Germany in Wednesday’s semi-final match, Paul is now a perfect 6 for 6 in predicting winners. The victory took out any suspicion that Paul was a “homer,” seeing as he bet against his home nation of Germany. Who wouldn’t like to see more Paul’s in the professional world of guessing?

Unfortunately, as with the case with most clairvoyant creatures of the Cephalopoda class, Paul has begun to receive death threats in an act of thuggery from fans who are trying to intimidate and silence him. Thankfully, he will have none of it.

After correctly predicting Germany to defeat Argentina in the quarterfinals, Paul began to receive notes from angry Argentinians who threatened to make a meal out of him.

Oliver Walenciak, Paul’s keeper, spoke on his behalf, telling the Telegraph:

“There are always people who want to eat our octopus but he is not shy and we are here to protect him as well. He will survive.”

I imagine that at first he was afraid, he was petrified. Kept thinking he could never live without predicting World Cup matches. But Paul spent so many nights thinking how he’d never guess wrong and he grew strong, and he learned how to carry on.

Paul also skirted some controversy as he predicted Paraguay to lose to Spain in their quarterfinal match, thus removing the chance for the world to see some free nudity. But, alas, thanks to her kind spirit we will still get to see Larissa Liquelme run naked through the streets.

So now as Paul remains perfect as the world awaits his decision on who will win in the finals, between Spain and the Netherlands. This is for all the marbles.

America! Fuck yeah!

4 Jul

Happy 4th of July, Americans. To the rest of you- hey. How’s it going? I’ll spare the American themed post for today. Go on any other fashion blog & get your fill of tacky designer American themed apparel. Over here at Backwoods, however, we’re gonna salute something else: tattoos & YSL. How do these two go together?

On June 24th, YSL (Yves Saint Laurent- but I pray those of you reading this with interest knew that) debuted a short film, entitled “No Way Back,” for Stefano Pilati’s SS11 collection.¬†Created by photographer Ari Marcopoulos, this film focuses on Mark Mahoney, a very well known & highly praised tattoo artist based out of Los Angeles.

Even if you don’t like fashion, “No Way Back” is incredibly interesting & gives you a more creative look into the life of a very talented artist. I highly suggest you spare 8 minutes & give it a watch.
