Halloween Head

31 Oct

Happy halloween! I am feeling much better (I can breath through my nose again!), & with that comes another Johnny Cash post- because I believe Johnny Cash has the power to heal me anytime I feel bad.

& even though it’s not Johnny. . .

here is a song by Ryan Adams (one of my all time favorite musicians) to get yourself into the folk-country Halloween spirit!

It’s called a story for a reason

Well. . .I’m glad this has been cleared up!

Bad, bad whiskey

As if I don’t have enough trouble sleeping already, being sick doesn’t make this situation any easier. It’s 4am, I have to be awake for a 9 hour day of school at 6am. How much you wanna bet I don’t make it to class? & as much as I should care, I kind of don’t.

My roommate isn’t here, so I don’t have anyone to keep me company aside from my cat & my music. I’ve posted a thing or two about Junior Wells before, but I don’t think I can stress enough how much I love this man & his music. Does coffee help a cold? I don’t know, but I made a pot & just finished drinking the whole thing while listening to ol’ Junior.┬áIt was kind of amazing.

(& before I get told that the reason I can’t sleep is because of coffee, let me tell you a secret: coffee actually helps me sleep better & has never kept me awake. Tea is what makes me bounce off the walls.)

I’ve got another doctors appointment tomorrow. The doctors in Berkeley are the biggest birdbrains I think I have ever met in my entire life. Today at the doc’s office, the nurse asked me how to spell “swallow,” & then wanted to know if 5 was the correct numbered month for May. I just looked at her & could feel my hatred for this place growing that very second.

I’m getting away from the point of this 4am post. The point is: listen to Junior Wells if you want a break from the rest of the world.

Poor, nameless slobs

Good gracious, it has been a few days. I’l fill you in on a few things & then I have an announcement. I’ll start back with my inspirations tomorrow.

01. I have watched “Breakfast At Tiffany’s” three times this weekend.

02. I have gotten sick over the past few days.

03. I am having major bro problems (this is effecting my life a lot lately, because there are only a handful of straight men in San Francisco, & I seem to be killing them off like flies).

04. I am going to Greece in December.

05. I am going to visit my very best friend & the Thelma to my Louise in Orlando on Nov. 4th through the 9th (!!!).

06. I dyed my hair too dark & have been trying to strip the color down with dish soap. It’s been working a little bit….

As for announcements, I would like all Bay Area people to know about a jewelry store called Sikara & Co. A very good friend of mine works for this company & recently gave me the link to the website: – they have some very beautiful things (their rings & pendants are my favorite)!

They just opened a pop-up store at 2167 Union St. in the Marina District. Because it is only a pop-up, Sikara won’t be there long (they leave Dec 30), so I advise all of you to get over there while you can! Go buy your momma (or godmomma [hi nouna, i love you]) some pretty lookin’ gem stones. Or, hell- buy yourself something. Personally, I want those pearl earrings I have pictured. So pretty!

If you plan on going (WHICH YOU SHOULD!), give me a call & let’s make it a date.

All things good, plus one thing bad

I have been fairly busy lately. I will post something worth reading tomorrow, promise.

I’m so tired, I haven’t slept a wink

I haven’t been able to sleep all weekend. I’ve been going to bed around 1am, wake up at 5am, stay up all day- feel really tired, don’t nap so I can sleep- can’t sleep, stay awake until 7am, sleep until 10am, cycle continued. I did get a few things done, though. Finally watched “3:10 to Yuma,” which was great. Applied for an internship with a web fashion magazine based in London. Pretty sure I’ve made up my mind to move there after I graduate. Put some new strings on my new/old guitar. Busted lip on said guitar strings that decided to pop up in my face. Finished making a dreamcatcher that I started- oh- 12 or so years ago.

It rained all day – cats & dogs. It was bright when I left this morning, but I still brought my umbrella along just incase. I didn’t want a very wet repeat of last Tuesday. Oh gosh, I have never felt so uncomfortable in my entire life. Thankfully, I made the right decision, because my red & white polka-dot umbrella was put to good use after class was over & I had to walk to the train station.

I listened to these songs over & over again while riding home.

Here comes the son

18 Oct

The Beatles, The Beatles, The Beatles: that’s all I’ve been listening to lately. I’ve been on this huge kick the past week. I grew up loving them, though. My mom & godparents are huge fans- most of my mom’s personal library consists of books on The Beatles. We had framed posters in our house. The only VHS boxset I can ever remember owning (side from Grease 1 & 2 in all of its collector package glory) is The Beatles Anthology. Etc, etc. . . .

My favorite Beatle has always been George. I don’t know why. A part of it has to do with his solo career after The Beatles came to an end. He’s just so good, so inspiring. He has a son, Dhani, who is following in his fathers musical footsteps. His band, thenewno2, isn’t too shabby either. What really gets me about Dhani Harrison is how much looks like his father. It’s actually pretty scary; like staring face-to-face with George’s ghost.

Prepare to have chills run down your spine.

These photos are almost a year old. They are from Vogue’s 2008 “Fashion Rocks” photo-shoot. This is probably my most favorite picture editorial ever. It’s so incredible & absolutely beautiful. I’ve thought about framing a few. I don’t know. I feel like that would be kind of creepy though. So maybe I’ll just save them to their own special folder on my MacBook & look at them whenever I please.
